

Mary Katherine “Trink” Wallace, 76 of Springfield, IL peacefully transitioned into eternal rest with the Lord after a courageous battle. She departed this life on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Springfield Memorial Hospital, Springfield, IL.
Mary was born January 27, 1949, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Joseph Jozsa and Betty Godfrey. She married Ruben Wallace on November 22, 2003, in Springfield, IL.
She became a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church in 2003. Mary was a strong and courageous woman with a whole lot of spunk. Her hospitality did not go unnoticed. She shared her hospitality at work and home. One of her favorite things was entertaining her friends and family in the garage of her and Ruben’s home. To know her was to love her. Mary has overcome many obstacles and battles throughout her life even up until the time of her passing. Mary had adopted the motto of “I don’t know what tomorrow may bring but I am waiting on the Lord.”
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Jozsa and Betty Bledsoe.
Mary leaves to cherish her fond memories: husband, Ruben Wallace; son, Wesley Koontz Sr (Star); daughter, Michelle Koontz Barham; brother, Michael Jozsa (Jeanne); grandchildren, Breeanna, Duane II, Michelle, Isiah, Joseph, Wesley Jr., and Skyelyn; great-grandchildren, Isiah Jr., Duane III, Mecien, Aaliyah, and Jordan; a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family; special loved ones, Shawn and Trish Wallace; and long-time friend, Kathleen Edwards.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1601 E. Laurel St., Springfield with Rev. Josh West.
A Repast will follow after the service.
