Mary E. Newby, 92, of Springfield, formerly of Cincinnati, OH, died at 12:05 a.m. on Monday, August 29, 2005 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. Mary was born on February 27, 1913 in Buckner, IL the daughter of Nick and Cecilia Petrosek Smatlik. She married Frank Newby and he preceded her in death. She was employed as a photo stylist for a number of different companies including Proctor and Gambel. She was a member of the Presbyterian faith. She is survived by one niece: Susan Bown and three nephews: Rick, Chuck and John Wolters. Cremation will be accorded by Cremation Tribute Center, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Memorial Services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, September 2, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Scott Brindley officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army, 530 N. 6th St., Springfield, IL 62702. The family of Mary E.
