Maurice L. “Morrie” Roberts, 71, of Springfield died at 7:05 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2005 at St. John’s Hospital. Morrie was born November 12, 1933 in Waverly, IL the son of James and Grace Lambert Roberts. He married Sharon Taylor, January 3, 1955 in Waverly. Mr. Roberts attended Waverly High School. He retired from Fiat Allis in 1983 after 31 years of service. He also worked at Dick Van Dyke for 15 years and worked for Water Works until his death. He was a veteran of the armed forces serving from 1956-1957. He was a member of Waverly Baptist Church in Waverly and attended Christian Assembly. He is survived by his wife: Sharon of Springfield; three daughters: Tracy, Tammy and Becky Roberts all of Springfield; three grandchildren; two sisters: Doris Maggio, Barb (husband, Raymond) Reynolds of Springfield; one brother: Paul Richard Roberts of Montrose, MO and several nieces and nephews. Cremation will be accorded by the Cremation Tribute Center. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2005 with Rev. Linda Dennis officiating at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail will conduct military honors.
