Michael Lee Looker

Michael Lee Looker, 62, of Chatham, passed away peacefully in the arms of his wife and three daughters, on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center. He was born March 20, 1952 in Jacksonville to Delbert Lee and Margaret Etheleen Tannahill Looker. Mike was preceded in death by his father. He served his country in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1974. Mike married Ellen K. Franke on May 17, 1982. Retiring in 2014 from the US Postal Service, Mike served as a letter carrier for 36 years. Mike was very active in the Chatham community with the Jaycees for 34 years, serving as their treasurer; as a coach for YBA; and an avid golfer and poker player! He will be greatly missed by his wife, Ellen: daughters, Sarah (Lucas) Turner of Chatham, Amy (Matthew) Dahlkamp and Michelle Leigh Looker all of Springfield; his grandchildren, �the light of his life�, Brady Michael Turner, Livi Kathryn Turner, Addison Dorothy Turner, expecting a Grandson due on Mike�s birthday, Tinley Elle Dahlkamp; mother, Etheleen Duffy of Jacksonville; brothers, Gary (Terri) Looker of Waverly and Danny (Kelly) Looker of Lehi, UT; extended family of in laws; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends. His family will greet friends from 1-4pm, Sunday, January 11, at Sangamon Prairie Reception Center, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham. Funeral ceremony will be held at 10am, Monday, January 12, at Sangamon Prairie Reception Center with Rev. Allen Miller officiating, Mike�s pastor from Sugar Creek Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with the Interveteran�s Burial Detail of Sangamon County and Department of Defense conducting military honors.
