Michael Smith

Michael "Mikey" Smith, 17, of Springfield, passed away at 9:35 a.m. on Monday, September 12, 2011 at his home. Mikey was born April 8, 1994 in Springfield, the son of Steve and Brenda Smith. Mikey attended the Springfield Learning Academy and loved the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He was free-spirited and big-hearted. He was also very outgoing and enjoyed going kayaking and canoeing. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bud Smith and his great-grandparents, Arthur and Henrietta Bounds. He is survived by his son, Jericho Smith of Springfield; his parents, Steve and Brenda Smith of Springfield; grandparents, Bob Harmon and Theresa Smith of Springfield and Rick and Beverly Kaydus, of Glenarm; two brothers, Jericho and Steve Smith II; girlfriend, Khristina Tieman; many aunts and uncles; two nieces; two nephews; and many cousins. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until the time of the ceremony at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 16, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield with Chaplain Kevin Torgerson officiating.
