

Michael “Mike” John Williams, 36, of Morton, IL, died at 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 11, 2007 at St. John’s Hospice. Mike was born November 28, 1970 in Chicago, the son of John Derek and Rosemary Agnes May Williams. He married Laurie Headley on July 18, 1998 in Springfield. Mike was a 1988 graduate of Lanphier High School. He received his teaching certificate from Illinois State University and his Master’s in education administration from the University of Illinois at Springfield. Mike worked as a special education teacher at Mossville Junior High School and also coached Jr. High boys basketball. He was formerly employed by S.A.S.E.D. Mike was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the Chicago Bears, Bulls and White Sox, the Illini and Notre Dame. He enjoyed spending time with his family and playing basketball in the 3 on 3 Gus Macker Tournament. He was preceded in death by his mother: Rosemary Williams. He is survived by his wife: Laurie Williams of Morton, IL; one son: Evan Williams; one daughter: Jaicie Williams; his father: John Williams of Springfield; one brother: Robert John Williams of Springfield; two nieces: Isabella Headley and Ruby Headley; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Cremation was accorded by the Cremation Tribute Center, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A Memorial gathering will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Memorial ceremonies will be at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home.
