

Mildred “Millie” Cappella, 92, of Springfield, died at 5:28 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2006 at St. John's Hospital. Millie was born June 28, 1913 in Springfield, the daughter of Harry and Ida Young Johnston. She married Raymond “Ray” J. Cappella in 1930; he preceded her in death in 1979. Mrs. Cappella was a men’s sportswear buyer at Myers Brothers for 24 years. She also worked at Bergner’s for 7 years. Millie was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. She was also preceded in death by her brother: Harry E. Young. She is survived by two nieces: Margaret “Peg” Sidener of Chatham and Jean Clevenger of Auburn; two nephews: Leo (wife, Sharon) Dapron of Springfield and Richard “Dick” (wife, Phyllis) Dapron of Springfield and several great nieces and great nephews. Family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2119 N. 20th St., Springfield with Rev. Mark A. Schulte celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may me made to St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2119 N. 20th St., Springfield, IL 62702 or St. Joseph Catholic Church, 700 E. Spruce St., Chatham, IL 62629.
