Nancy June Scaife Beatty, 95, of Springfield, passed away on March 7, 2024 at Concordia Village. She was born on December 19, 1928 in Springfield to William A. Maurer and Florence Bessie Maurer. Nancy married Donald Lee Beatty and he preceded her in death on October 7, 1996.
Mrs. Beatty is the mother of Rick (Cathy) Scaife of New Berlin, Steven (Sue) Scaife of Springfield and Thomas Scaife (deceased) the step-mother of Dianne (Ed) Leach, Bonnie (Dave) Willis, Brian (Deb) Beatty and Susan (Mark) Hurley, the grandmother of Todd (Angela) Scaife, Andrea (Jason) Jordan, Chad Scaife, Ashley (Chris) Calhoun, Courtney (Danny) McGee, Jessica (Scott) Scaife and Joshua (Cheyenne) Scaife, the step-grandmother of sixteen, a great-grandmother to fifty seven, a sister to William C. Maurer and an aunt to several nieces and nephews.
Nancy graduated from Springfield High School and attended Brown’s Business College. She worked at Federated Funeral Directors in Springfield and she retired from Illinois State Senate as a Legislative Secretary 1992 after over twenty years of service. She was a member of West Side Christian Church, the Red Hat Society and she enjoyed traveling and arts and crafts.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday March 12, 2024 at the Concordia Village Chapel, 4101 West Iles Ave. Springfield, IL. 62711 with the burial to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 4:00pm until 7:00pm on Monday March 11, 2024 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road and from 9:30am until the time of service Tuesday at the Concordia Chapel.
