

Nathan R. Hoffman, 35, of Springfield, died at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 2013, at Mark Twain Lake, Missouri. Nathan was born on May 8, 1978 in Springfield, the son of Jeffery V. and Cherlynn K. Rulison Hoffman. He married Sara Ann Swinford on June 9, 2007 in Springfield. Nathan was a graduate of Ridgely Elementary School and Lanphier High School class of 1996. He was an Engineering Technician for Illinois Department of Transportation. He attended First United Methodist Church and was a member of Teamsters Local #916, IDOT Original Bowling League, American Bowling Association, NRA, and the Hicks Fishing Club. Nathan enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, hunting, camping, and vegetable gardening. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joshua and Evan Hoffman; grandparents, E. Robert Rulison, Jane Pfaffman and John R. Hoffman; and aunt, Colleen Martin. He is survived by his wife, Sara Hoffman of Springfield; one son, T. J. Hoffman of Springfield; four daughters, Kaylee, Kelsey, Hannah and Ashlyn Hoffman, all of Springfield; mother, Cher Hoffman of Chatham; father, Jeff (wife, Myra) Hoffman of Athens; mother-in-law, Carolyn Patterson of Edinburg; father-in-law, Robert (wife Linda) Swinford of Dahlgren; grandparents, Joan Rulison and Billie R. Long of Springfield, and Thomas Pfaffman of Longwood, FL; one nephew, Cameron Hoffman; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, 2941 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield. Memorial Ceremony: 10 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, with Dr. Robert Swickard officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
