Nora was born February 23, 1932, in Kincaid, IL, the daughter of Emil and Elisa (Bartelli) Vitali. She married Fred W. Pokora on June 25, 1961, in Springfield, IL.
Nora graduated from Lanphier High School, class of 1949. She was a dental assistant for Dr. John Donelan, DDS, before her boys were born. She was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Springfield, IL for over 60 years. Nora was a friend to all who met her. She was hardworking, a great bowler in her younger years, loved to go boating and water skiing with Fred, enjoyed crocheting, and was an amazing cook and baker. Nora was very motherly and loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; brother, Aldo (Mary Lou) Mariconi; sister, Flora (Antone) Mariconi DuPage; sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Bill) Roy, Charlotte Vitali, Betty (Dale) Gronewald; and niece who was more like a sister, Barbara Payne; and many more nieces and nephews.
Nora is survived by her sons, Mark F. Pokora and Michael W. Pokora; brother, Ezio Vitali; niece who was more like a sister, Patricia Minch; and many other nieces and nephews.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield, until the time of the ceremony at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ryan Anderson officiating.
Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
