Peter C. Goeringer, 72, of Springfield, died at 4:10 a.m. on Friday, November 23, 2007 at his home. Peter was born February 3, 1935 in Chicago, the son of Peter and Ruth M. Smith Goeringer. Peter was a cook and chef having been employed by several area restaurants over his many years in Springfield and also in Las Vegas. Peter was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Peter enjoyed fishing, playing slot machines and cards, and traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife: Alissa L. Clark Goeringer. He is survived by two sons: Mark of Springfield, and Jeff of Chicago; two daughters: Amy (Buster) Rosa of Neoga and Pamela Thomas of Jacksonville, MS; six grandchildren: Kori, Mark Jr., Tawny and Jacob Goeringer of Springfield, Lori Thomas of Dayton, OH and Adrian Rosa of Neoga; one sister: Patricia Mahany; one niece: Kathleen Mahany; and one nephew: Joseph Mahany, all of New Lenox. Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield. Funeral ceremonies will be held at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
