

Richard J. Bryant, 69, of Springfield, passed away at 4:50 p.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at his residence. Rich was born on December 13, 1948 in Springfield, the son of Richard Louis and Macille Paralee Bryant. He married Wendy E. Keran on June 29, 1974 in Springfield; she preceded him in death on August 7, 2016. Rich was a graduate of Griffin High School and attended Springfield College in Illinois. He served in the United States Navy from 1970-1975 serving during the Vietnam War on the USS Hancock. Rich was most recently employed by UIS and previously employed with the State Journal Register and the post office for 17 years. He was also preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his two sons, Daniel L. (wife, Teryn) Bryant of Westmont, IL and Jacob C. (wife, Amanda) Bryant of Springfield; three grandchildren, Asher K., Ardyn H. and Mereda G. Bryant; his mother, Macille Bryant; one sister, Jan (husband, Randy) Miller of Springfield; and one niece, Nicole Miller. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering and Memorial Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors.
