

Richard A. Grega, 77, of Springfield, died at 1:45 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Heritage Manor. Richard was born March 15, 1935 in Livingston, IL, the son of Andrew and Mary Morak Grega. He married Mary McCaskey on September 8, 1956 in Springfield. Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 1957 and then in the Reserves. He worked for RCA Corporation in Communications for 30 years. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament and was founder and president of the Lincoln Douglas Chapter of Antique Automobiles. Richard loved to restore antique automobiles and enjoyed woodworking. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Mary Grega of Springfield; five daughters, Kathleen (Doug) Roberts, Lombard, Joni (Jim) Winhold, Pleasant Plains, Paula Obrien, Springfield, Mary Pat Linnik, Carlsbad, CA, and Diane (Tim) Henson, Springfield; ten grandchildren, Lisa Winhold, Kim (Tim) Diveley, Tiffany Winhold, Christopher (Cara) Greenwald, Lynde Greenwald, Kalin Norvell, Kyle (Charlie) Linnik, Noah Linnik, Courtney Henson, and Alec Henson; great-granddaughter, Victoria Diveley; brother, Larry (Peggy) Grega of Edwardsville; and several nieces and nephews. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 25, 2012 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Memorial Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at Blessed Sacrament, 1725 S. Walnut St., Springfield with Rev. Jeff Grant, celebrant.
