Richard "Rick" A. Gillespie

Richard "Rick" A. Gillespie, 63, of Carlinville, passed away at 11:15 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2018 at Carlinville Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers disease. Rick was born August 12, 1954 in Springfield, IL, the son of Charles R. and Mary J. Kraus Gillespie. Rick graduated from Griffin High School in 1972, and he retired from CWLP after 25 years of service. He also worked for Astro Amusements for five years. He enjoyed cars, motorcycles, and doing automotive body work. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Gillespie; mother, Mary J. Gillespie-Holmes; and stepfather, Albert J. Holmes. He is survived by his son, Ryan (Courtney) Gillespie of Chatham; mother of his child, Mimi (Don) Ott; siblings, Janette (Gene) Drendel of Springfield, Gary (Jane) Gillespie of Quincy, Tom Gillespie of Boyton Beach, FL, Michael (Ann) Holmes of Springfield, and Lynn (David) Chapman of Springfield; one granddaughter; godmother, Aunt Freda Burg; and several uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Private family graveside services were held at Calvary Cemetery.
