

Richard “Rich” Stanton Wiley, 61, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, after an accident on Old Jacksonville Rd. He was born on January 7, 1953 in Springfield, son of the late Herbert and Jean Wiley.
He married Janice Acheson on June 2, 1973; she preceded him in death in 2000. On February 2, 2002, Rich married Mary Ann Clark of Atlanta.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, a son Michael, and a brother Herb Wiley III.
Rich graduated from Springfield High School in 1971 and Illinois College in 1975, earning a degree in Business. He returned to Springfield and entered into the family business, Typewriter Service Company. He acquired Typewriter Service Company in 1978 with partner Stan, expanding the products sold and serviced to include all business equipment. Rich served as co-owner for many years until he established his own company, Wholesale Business Machines, in Decatur with a branch office in Springfield. He then consolidated the branches to a location on West Jefferson, which he operated from the early 2000s. Rich was a successful and well-respected businessman in the community all of his adult life.
Rich cultivated many interests, including working on cars, military history, and fishing and was an active member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; two sons, David (Amy) Wiley of Rushville, Joshua (Hilarie) Wiley of Colorado Springs; a daughter, Kristen; a sister, Carol West of Springfield; five grandchildren; and two stepsons, Ed Clark of Zion and Rob Clark of Atlanta, their children Susan of Atlanta and Brandon of Zion, and Susan’s two children.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m., Thursday, January 23, 2014, at Boardman-Smith Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10 a.m., Friday, January 24, 2014, at Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel with Pastor Paul Hemenway officiating. Entombment will be in Oak Ridge Memorial Chapel Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.
