

Rita A. Williams, 66, of Springfield, died at 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, November 15, 2009 at her residence. Rita was born September 30, 1943 in Sabina, OH, the daughter of Carl E. and Clara J. Smith Crone. She married Dale M. Williams. He preceded her in death on January 5, 1991. Rita graduated from Lynchburg High School in Ohio in 1961 and attended Columbus Business University in Columbus, OH. She moved to Springfield in 1971 from Hillsboro, OH. She was most recently employed as a rural mail carrier by the USPS from 1977 until her retirement in 2007. Prior to that she had worked as a CNA at Lewis Memorial Christian Village, spent ten years as an EMT with Pawnee Sangamac Ambulance and was a private secretary for three years for a textile paper company in Cincinnati, OH. Rita's proudest accomplishment was raising her two wonderful kids. She was a member of Pawnee Christian Church and also of NARFE. She enjoyed dancing, walking, shopping, cooking and baking. She was also preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her spouse, John Haley of Springfield; her son, John D. (wife, Angela Sue) Williams of Niceville, FL; daughter, Sara L. (husband, David) Davison of Middletown, IL; four grandchildren, Michael S. and Jennifer R. Williams both of Niceville, FL and Andrew Greer and Dale Dean Davison both of Middletown, IL; two brothers, Carl A. (wife, Doris J.) Crone of New Vienna, OH and Michael E. (wife, Maureen) Crone of Toledo, OH; two sisters, Cathy C. (husband, William) Manker of Springfield, OH and Charlotte R. (husband, Rodney) Pack of Hillsboro, OH; two aunts; three nieces; five nephews and numerous cousins. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. An additional visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of ceremony at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 20, 2009 at Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, 138 E. Main St., Hillsboro, OH with Pastor Tom Stoops officiating. Burial will follow at Barnes Union Cemetery in Fairview, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 687 E. Linton Ave., Springfield, IL 62703 for breast cancer research.
