

Robert P. Hickey, 72, of Springfield passed away at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2002 at his residence. Robert was born January 20, 1930 the son of John and Katherine Sassenberger Hickey in Lincoln IL. He married Loretta Eimer September 1, 1951 at St. Mary’s in Lincoln, IL. Mr. Hickey was a graduate of St. Louis College of Pharmacy. He was the owner of the Medical Arts Pharmacy for over 30 years and had been employed as a pharmacist for University Pharmacy West through Memorial Medical Center. He was a member of the Illinois Pharmacist Association. He was also a member of Blessed Sacrament Church. Robert’s greatest enjoyment was being able to help other people through his work. He would sometimes give his customers the medicine they needed when they couldn’t afford it and would also take medicine to sick people in the middle of the night. Robert loved St. Patrick’s Day and was very proud of being Irish. He was a very lucky person, having “the luck of the Irish.” He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and making trips to Par-A-Dice. Robert really enjoyed life and most of all he loved his family. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Loretta of Springfield; three daughters: Karen Schaub of Springfield, Tari A. (husband, Kim) Jones of Springfield, Kathy (husband, Phil) Heimlich of Springfield; three sons: Patrick Hickey of Springfield, John (wife, Shari) Hickey of Springfield, Michael R. Hickey of Springfield; eleven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Blessed Sacrament from 10-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2002. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at Blessed Sacrament with the Very Reverend Kevin Vann celebrant. Private burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
