Robert J. Selinger

Robert was born February 28, 1942 in Springfield, the son of Edward and Helen Keenan Selinger. He married Carol Rieck on August 27, 1966 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Springfield.

Robert graduated from Griffin High School and received his Bachelor's degree from Illinois State University. He obtained a Master's degree in Education from Bradley University. He was employed as an Assistant Director with the State of Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Carol of Vero Beach, FL; one daughter, Heather (husband, Michael) Schaffer of Libertyville; one son, Patrick (wife, Erin) Selinger of Stuart, FL; two grandchildren, Michael and Caroline Schaffer; three brothers, James Selinger of Cobden IL, Lawrence Selinger and Thomas Selinger, both of Springfield; and one sister, Mary Frances McKibben of Springfield.

The family will receive friends at a memorial gathering from 9:00 - 10:45 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, June 6, 2008 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 542 E. Lawrence, Springfield with Rev. Peter C. Harman celebrant.

Burial will be privately held at a later date in Florida.
