

Robert L. Tefertillar, 75, of Springfield, passed away at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2002 at his residence. Robert was born February 15, 1927 in Centralia the son of James C. and Goldia Bond Tefertillar. He married Joan M. Murchland June 11, 1949 in the Chapel of the First Christian Church in Eureka, IL. Robert graduated from Pontiac High School and attended Eureka College and Sangamon State University. He has been a resident of Springfield since 1949. He served as Public Relations Director for National Life Insurance Company from 1970 until his retirement in 1980. Previous to that he was a Continuity Director for local radio station WTAX. Throughout his retirement he has continued to write and publish articles in various national periodicals. He was a member of A.F.&A.M. Central Lodge #71 and Iota Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon. Robert was a dedicated tennis player and golfer. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Joan M. of Springfield; a close and special cousin: Pat (husband, Harold) Phelps of Centralia; two sisters-in-law: Delores (husband, William) Kays of Lostant, IL, Madge (husband, Robert) Micheli of Tonica, IL; one niece: Marsha (husband, Kerry) Campbell of Fincastle, VA; three nephews: Kevin M. (Wife, Janet) Kays of Wadsworth, IL, Shawn J. Micheli of Tonica, IL, Kelly R. (wife, Anita) Micheli of Tonica, IL; two aunts: Dorothy Bond of Centralia, Elsie Bond Thompson of Decatur; three great-nieces; two great-nephews and several cousins. The body was cremated. A Memorial gathering will be held from 2-3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 16, 2002 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at a later date in Fairview Cemetery in Tonica, IL. Tefertillar is being served by Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
