Ronald Dean Cowan, 64, of Chatham, IL, passed away peacefully, Monday, March 5, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born November 3, 1948 in Herrin to the late Proctor and Clara Irene Watson Cowan, Jr. He was preceded in death by his son Dustin. Mr. Cowan graduated from Carterville High School, Lincoln Land community College and ISU. Ron was a veteran of the US Air Force and served during Vietnam. He married Georgia Lynn Roberts on June 3, 1972. He worked at Ameren Cilco for 30 years retiring as a crew leader for gas distribution. He is survived by his wife, Lynn of Chatham, daughter Addie (Matt) Mayfield of Springfield; sister Brenda (Larry) Harp of Carterville; brother Steve (Marianne) Cowan of Carterville; Father and Mother in law George and Emma Roberts of Chatham; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held from 4-7pm Friday, March 8, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham. Funeral ceremony will be at 11am Saturday, March 9 at Staab Polk Memorial Home, Chatham. Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery with the Interveterans� Burial Detail of Sangamon County conducting military honors.
