

He was born on June 11, 1947 in Springfield, the son of the late David and Ethel Ester (Oberman) Levine. He married Anna Mae Maroon in Springfield in 1972 and she preceded him in death in 2006.
Mr. Levine retired as a Sergeant Major after serving in the U.S. Army, Navy, and Air Force. He also was a systems manager for the State of Illinois Department of Transportation.
He was a member of the Chatham Masonic Lodge AF&AM, Springfield Consistory, Ansar Shrine, American Legion Post #759 in Chatham, Shriner’s Legion of Honor, VFW, and the Lion’s Club. Mr. Levine was a member of Temple B’rith Sholom in Springfield and the Springfield Jewish Federation.
He is survived by a daughter Lori (husband Robert) Haug and grandson of Geneva, IL, a son Joseph (wife Heather) Levine of Oswego, IL, 4 brothers, Sheldon Levine, Bernard (wife Grace) Levine, Stanley (wife Nancy) Levine and Gerald, (wife Jeannette) Levine, 3 sisters Fay Alper, Jackie (husband Norman) Perlmutter, and Phyllis (husband Eugene) Siegel, sister-in-law Sue Levine, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Manny, Marvin, and Robert Levine.
Services are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd. where visitation will be held on Monday, September 19, 2011 from 9:30 am until time of the funeral service at 10:30 am. The funeral service will also take place at the funeral home, with Rabbi Michael Datz officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield.
