Ron was born October 31, 1942, in Springfield, the son of Russell and Buelah (Hall) Barnes. He married Barbara K. Sponsler on May 19, 1962, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Springfield.
Ron was a lifelong resident of Springfield and graduated from Lanphier High School in 1960. After high school, Ron proudly served his county in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at Barker-Lubin Co. which became Contractor’s Lumber City for nearly 50 years, holding many positions and wearing many hats throughout his time there. Ron did what needed to be done and he was a worker, through and through. When he wasn’t working professionally, you could usually find him working around the house that he and his father built in 1972 for Barb and his family. Ron enjoyed working on projects, building things for the home, taking care of the yard, gardening, and sometimes just tinkering in the garage. He was a true family man and he always wanted to be around his family, spending time with those he loved the most.
He was preceded in death by his parents and baby brother, Larry Lee Barnes.
Ron is survived by his wife, Barb Barnes, of Springfield; two sons, Ronald (Stacey) Barnes of Lilburn, GA, and Rick (Kate) Barnes of Pasadena, CA; three grandchildren, Ronald (Elizabeth) Barnes of Sherman, Kori Barnes of Springfield, and Nicholas Barnes of Statesboro, GA; two great-grandchildren, Addie and Carter Barnes; and many cousins.
