Rose M. Albert

Rose M. Albert, 88, of Springfield, passed away on February 12, 2026 at Cedarhurst. She was born on October 22, 1937 in Springfield to Henry and Hattie Smith Sommer. Rose married Russell Albert and after fifty eight years of marriage he preceded her in death in 2017. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Henry Sommer, Frank Sommer, Theresa Sommer, Paul Sommer, and Jean Peterman.

Mrs. Albert is survived by her son Gary Albert (wife Tammy) of Springfield, IL., two daughters: Karen Hembrough of Lafayette, IN., and Sharon Purlee (husband John) of Grand Rapids, MI., six grandchildren: Mariah Delude (husband Evan) of Chatham, IL., Jessica Helton of Springfield, IL., Joshua Hembrough (wife Katy) of West Lafayette, IN., Ashtin Dykstra of Hastings, MI., Danielle Humphrey (husband Mason) of Grandville, MI., and Jason Purlee (wife Emily) of Allegan, MI., as well as many Great Grandchildren.

Rose retired after serving as the Office Manager/Medical Secretary for Dr. Lyle Wacaser for many years. She enjoyed attending countless sporting events, painting, serving others through her church, cooking, and enjoying a good long ride on her electric scooter! Rose was very social, she enjoyed sharing stories and she made her family a priority throughout her life.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Monday February 16, 2026 at Chatham United Methodist Church, 104 West Chestnut in Chatham. The family will greet friends from 10:00am until the time of service at church. A private graveside will take place at Old Salem Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to Chatham United Methodist Church.
