Rose Ellen Cessna

Born and raised in Middletown, IL, Rose was the daughter of Harry and Vera (Croft) Pierce. She married John (Jack) Cessna in 1959 in Springfield.

Rose was a member of Riverton Methodist Church. A Registered Nurse, she proudly worked at Memorial Hospital and St John’s Tuberculosis Sanitarium before becoming a full-time farm wife. Rose enjoyed growing roses, singing in the church choir and for special events, and showing her love to family and friends through her delicious home cooked dishes.

Both parents, sister, Patty Wittekind; and brother, James Pierce preceded her in death.

Rose is survived by her husband, Jack Cessna; daughter, Kimberly D. Cessna; son, Kirk J. (Kim) Cessna all of Springfield; grandchildren, Justin (Jackie) Fleck; Brett (Amber Holt) Herrin; and Nicole (Austin) O’Dell; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Linda (Lowell) Pinney of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Butler Funeral Home - Springfield. 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, IL 62703.

Funeral: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastors Bobbi and Floyd Blackard officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
