

Ruby F. Britz DeLay, 90, of Chatham, died at 11:50 a.m. Sunday, February 16, 2003 at Sunrise Manor in Virden. She was born April 12, 1912, in New City, Illinois the daughter of Arthur Raymond and Edna Catherine Wooley Bounds. She married Nicholas G. Britz in 1928; he preceded her in death 1953. She later married Charles M. Delay in 1956; he preceded her in death May 2, 1996. Mrs. Delay, a homemaker was employed as a cook at Taft’s Restaurant for 20 years. She was a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary for Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) in Chatham. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Frank Britz, daughter-in-law: Carol Britz, son-in-law: Jack Maurer; seven sisters and seven brothers. She is survived by three sons: Robert W. (wife, Lisa) Britz of Divernon; Joseph (wife, Kathy) Britz of New Berlin, David (wife, Sandy) Britz of Chatham; four daughters: Martha (husband, Robert Sr.) Kaydus of Virden, Rosemary Maurer, Cecelia (husband, Wes) Nickelson, both of Springfield, Helen (husband, K.C.) Spann of Petersburg; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home from 5-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2003. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 20, 2003 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Reverend Kevin Wolfe officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
