Russell Joseph Bryce Owens, Rusty, 54, of Auburn, formerly of Chatham, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017 at his home. He was born August 6, 1962, in Springfield to Bryce E. and Joyce F. Brooks Owens. His father and his special brother, Daryl Lehmann preceded him in death. After graduating from Glenwood High School, Rusty began his career as a member of Carpenters Union #270. He will be greatly missed by his mother, Joyce Owens; brothers, Randy and Christopher Owens, all of Chatham; nieces, Jessica (Quentin) Call of Ft. Riley, KS, Samantha Smith of Kellogg, Idaho; nephew, Joseph Owens of Chatham, and their mother, Dawn Owens of Spaulding; aunts and uncles, Gary (Margaret) Brooks of Chatham, Ross Owens of Rochester, Rae Owens of Decatur, and Bertie Siebert of Springfield; several cousins; pet companion, Chesney, his white cat. His family will greet friends from 5pm-7pm, Thursday, April 13, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham. Funeral service will follow at 7pm with Certified Funeral Celebrant, Paula Staab Polk officiating. Burial at Leamington Cemetery near Equality, IL on Friday at 1pm. Memorial contributions for final expenses and may be sent to Staab Polk Memorial Home.
