Sam S. Benanti

Sam S. Benanti, 86, of Springfield, died on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at St. John's Hospice. Sam was born on April 3, 1929 in Springfield, the son of Charles and Providence Lombardo Benanti. He married Pat Brahler on June 2, 1951 in Springfield. Sam was a partner with R.D. Lawrence Construction for 25 years. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Sam enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, boating, fishing, and tennis. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, John, Lee, Catherine, and Agnes. He is survived by his wife, Pat Benanti of Springfield; sons, Gregory (wife, Terri) Benanti of Louisville, KY, Richard (wife, Jeanine) Benanti of Springfield, and Johnny (wife, Debbie) Benanti of Springfield; two daughters, Mary Pat (husband, Dennis) McDaniels and Nancy (husband, John) Cawley, both of Springfield; thirteen grandchildren, Sarah, Rose, Sam, Brian, Diana, Grace, Jessica, Michele, Amy, Renae, Marty, Megan, and Alex; and one great-grandchild, Elliot Smith-Benanti. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S. Walnut St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Rev. Jeff Grant, celebrant and Rev.
