He was born July 27, 1947 in Springfield the son of Joseph and Josephine Laffey Bonansinga. He married Rae Williams in 1983. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Paul R. Bonansinga.
Sam was a graduate of Griffin High School and received his Bachelor of Arts from Western Illinois University. He was an accomplished athlete both in High School and College. He retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation and was the owner of Greencastle Assesments and Training. He was a member of several professional training organizations.
He is survived by his wife, Rae; son, Quinn Bonansinga at home; sisters, Mary Ann Prillaman and Susie Bonansinga both of Springfield; brother, Tim(wife, Julie) Bonansinga of Quincy and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering will be held 5:00 to 7:00pm Friday Feb. 9,2007 at Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, Triangle Center or to the Gateway Foundation.
