Sandra Marlene Young

Sandy Young, 66, of Riverton, formerly of Virginia, passed away at 1:25 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center. Sandy was born January 8, 1947 in Springfield, the daughter of Donald and Mary Mitchell Arthur. Sandy worked in the healthcare field as a caregiver. She enjoyed playing pool, playing poker machines, and spending time with her grandchildren. Other interests included watching football, especially the Green Bay Packers, and cooking out with friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a stepmother, Lena Arthur; one daughter, Rebecca Young; and one brother, Danny Arthur. She is survived by her daughter, Debra (companion, Douglas Willhoit) Moscardelli of Springfield; six grandchildren, Richie (companion, Liz) Moscardelli, Travis (companion, Katie) Moscardelli, Mason Moscardelli, Jessica Watkins, and Charlie Judge all of Springfield, and Janice (husband, Darren) Barr of Rochester; six great-grandchildren, Lillyon, Richie, and Evelyn Moscardelli, Savannah and Austin Barr, and Camden Anders; and siblings, Donald and David Arthur, Sheila (husband, Mark) Force, and Brian Arthur all of Virginia. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering and Memorial Service: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. with a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield with Rev. Kevin Carrothers officiating. Burial of cremated remains will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
