Sarilda "Sis" B. Morrison

She was born on August 23, 1927, in Obetz, OH, the daughter of William and Margaret I. (Ballak) Shephard. Sarilda married John W. Morrison on October 16, 1948, in Columbus, OH. He preceded her in death in 1990, in Springfield, IL.

Sarilda graduated from Hamilton Township High School in Obetz, OH, and earned her bachelor’s degree from Lincoln Land Community College. Sis went on to work in the childcare profession in Springfield, for many, many years. Sarilda was a homebody that enjoyed gardening, being outside, watching cooking shows, and finding four leaf clovers. She was known as thoughtful, kind, and fiercely loyal to family. Her greatest gift was perseverance, strength, and determination through life’s toughest challenges.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, William Jr.; siblings, Julius Miller-Masters, Homer Masters, Margaret Masters Clagg, Opal Masters, Mildred Grabovich, Eleanor Gualtieri, and Betty, Robert, and Norman Shephard; infant son, Richard; son, John S. Morrison; and paternal grandparents, William and Mary M. (Dysart) Shepard.

Sarilda is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Martin) Dennison; sons, Steve, Michael (Raquel), and David (Heather) Morrison; all of her much-loved grandchildren; siblings, James and Larry Shepherd; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield, IL.

Funeral Ceremony: 12:45 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Butler Funeral Home - Springfield, with Fr. Al Kemme officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
