

She was born on May 4, 1935, in Charleston, SC., the daughter of George and Francina (Coleman) Plough. She later married Robert L. Cheli on January 5, 1952 in Charleston, SC., he preceded her in death on April 8, 1982.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two children a daughter Threresa and son Anthony.
She was a homemaker, cashier, and a home caregiver for over fifteen years. She loved to shop, read, play games and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She knew no stranger and loved to visit with everyone she could. She was a great, kind, loving person who will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
Shirley is survived by her children Robbin Cheli of Chatham, Michael Cheli of Chatham and Vanessa Watson of Springfield. A nephew Elbert (Kennajo) Schultz, grandchildren Joshua Cheli, Angela Cheli, Nicole Watson, Daniel Cheli and Sarah Watson. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be on Monday, August 15, 2011 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home 505 E. Allen St in Springfield from 5pm to 8pm. According to her wishes cremation rites will follow. Burial will take place on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at 11am at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.
Memorials may be made to a Charity of One’s Choice.
