Steve Roberts, 61, of Springfield, passed away at 9:15 a.m. on Monday, June 12, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center. Steve was born on September 20, 1955 in Paducah, KY, the son of Betty Sue Roberts. He married Sallie Spinner on May 22, 1976 in Springfield. Steve worked for the State of Illinois, and also worked in security, and as a truck driver. He was a member and past president of St. Andrews Society of Central Illinois. Steve enjoyed fishing, Ham radio, collecting model trains and the company of his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, and Papa who was very creative. Steve was preceded in death by his mother; his brother, Eddie "Butch" Sullenger, Jr.; and one grandson, Austin. He is survived by his wife, Sallie Roberts of Springfield; daughters, Stacia Roberts of Springfield and Alyssa (James R.) Randell of Greenfield; grandchildren, Jacob and Reese Roberts and Alaina and Ayden Randell; his dad, Ed Sullenger of Metropolis; and several siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to the gathering. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield.
