Susan Kay Fox Huckaby

Susan Kay Fox Huckaby, 68, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2014 at St. John's Hospital. She was born January 28, 1946 in Springfield, the daughter of Robert H. Fox, Sr. and Betty Jane Brown Fox. She married Ric Huckaby on October 30, 1965. They later divorced. She was preceded in death by her son Eric Huckaby Jr., who died October 15, 2009; her grandparents, her parents, and her brother, Bob Fox, Jr. Sue is survived by her daughter, Robin Elizabeth Huckaby (husband, John) Sudduth of Springfield, granddaughter, Emily Elizabeth Earl of Springfield; two nephews, Rob and Dave Fox; four great-nephews; one great-niece; one great-great-niece; sister-in-law, Barbara Fox of St. Louis; and many cousins and friends. Sue was a resident of Springfield all her life. She graduated from Rochester High School, class of 1964, and retired from the State of Illinois, Illinois State Police after 30 plus years. Most important to Sue was her family and friends. She cherished those relationships. She loved her home and tending to her many flowers. She loved to cook and share. She was a collector of books, always intending to read one. Sue's greatest joy in life was her granddaughter, Emily. They spent a lot of time together, and she loved her dearly. At Sue's request, there will be no service. Cremation rights were accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. The family will host a Celebration of Life luncheon at Lime Street Caf for family and close friends at a later date.
