

Sylvia “Maye” Ozier, 81, of Springfield passed away at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday August 29, 2001 at St. John’s Hospice. She was born January 25, 1920 in Greenup, Illinois the daughter of Clifford H. and Edna Donley Carr. She Married Leo A. Ozier in 1939 in Charleston, Illinois, He Preceded her in death in 1987. Mrs. Ozier had been Manager of the Sperry and Hutchinson Green Stamp Store. She was also a Foster Mother to children with disabilities. She was an active Member of Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church. She was past president of the Douglas Avenue United Methodist Women, a Sunday school teacher, a bible study leader; She served on the administrative board, and as a parish visitor. She made several trips as a volunteer in missions and participated in Meals on Wheels. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leo A. Ozier and daughter Mary Lynne Teubner. three Brothers William “Bill”, Jack A., and Benjamin “Hank” Carr. She is survived by two sons: Rev. Ronald (Wife Linda) Ozier of Wheeling, IL, Rev. Dr. James (Wife Suzanne) Ozier of Irving, TX; five daughters: Martha McMellen of Park City, IL, Jane (Husband Bob) Vincek of Atlanta, MI, Norma (Husband Mark) Boughter, Susan Greenfield both of Springfield, Joyce (Husband Anthony) Manci of Willamsville, IL; one son in law: Kenneth Teubner of Williamsville, IL; two brothers: David Donley, John (Wife Ethel) Donley both of Greenup, IL; five Sisters: Edith (Husband Russell) Markwell, Nell (Husband Loren) Markwell and Susie Callahan all of Greenup, IL, Mary (Husband Harold) Moss of Charleston. IL, Ruby Wright of Hazelwood, MO; 23 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; two aunts and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home from 5-8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 30, 2001. Additional Visitation will be Friday August 31, 2001 from 10-11:00 a.m. at the Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2001 at Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church, with Reverend Jean Hembrough officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
