

He was born on March 3, 1950 in Springfield, the son of the late James Gilbert and Velma Louise (Scott) Calhoun. He married Carolyn “Rosann” Harms in Springfield in June of 1973.
Mr. Calhoun had worked as a driver for Balster Trucking of Petersburg until 1984 and then worked as an electrician for Ruby Electric, retiring in 2009. He was a member of Salisbury Christian Church and was a NASCAR fan, especially Jeff Gordon.
Besides his wife Rosann, he is survived by his children Thomas Robert Calhoun of Phoenix, AZ, Samuel Scott (wife Amanda) Calhoun of Blacksburg, VA, Jeffrey Lynn Calhoun of Springfield, and Amy Sue Rios of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Eric Calhoun, Thomas Calhoun, Jordan Calhoun, Jocelyn Calhoun, Peyton Cruise, Liam Calhoun, Ella Cruise, Veronica Calhoun, Heaven Calhoun, and Dominic Calhoun; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Robert (wife Margie) Calhoun of Riverton, IL, and Wayne (wife Emma) Calhoun of Ashland, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield, where a memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 from 5 to 8 pm. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 10 am, with inurnment to follow at Chatham Cemetery, Chatham, IL. Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, the Memorial Transplant Services, or Hope Evangelical Free Church in Springfield.
