It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas W. Koslosky, age 57, of Riverton, Illinois, who peacefully departed this life on April 18, 2025, with his beloved daughter, Nichole, by his side.
Born on June 24, 1967, in Rome, New York, to James and Carol Koslosky, Thomas, commonly known as "Koz”, was a man of many passions and talents. He was a vibrant individual who embraced life with enthusiasm, finding joy in playing the cello, participating in the school gun club, and spending cherished weekends with his grandfather, Salvatore. A proud graduate of Sachem High School North in 1985, Koz's adventurous spirit led him to join the Holbrook Fire Department, where he not only served his community but also participated in the Rebels drill team, showcasing his dedication and brotherhood.
Thomas pursued his passion for aviation by attending Lewis A. Wilson Tech at Republic Airport, training to become an aircraft mechanic. His career took flight in October 1989 when he joined StandardAero in Long Island, NY, later relocating to Springfield, IL, in 1992. It was in Riverton that he built a loving home, marrying his wife, Jeannene Koslosky, in 1997. Together, they created a warm and welcoming environment filled with laughter and countless memories.
Koz was a dedicated member of the Sparrows Club and in the early 2000s was a volunteer firefighter with the Riverton Fire Department, embodying the spirit of community and service. His hobbies were as diverse as his interests; he loved listening to music, sharing stories, and spending quality time with his daughter, Nichole. An avid outdoorsman, he found love in hunting and fishing, often sharing these experiences with family and friends.
A diehard Chicago Bears fan, Koz took great pleasure in cheering for his team, and he also enjoyed watching the Chicago Blackhawks. It was never a dull moment when he was around, as he lived life to the fullest, embracing every opportunity for adventure and connection. He had a special bond with his cat, Buddy, and loved driving his Jeep, often taking the scenic route to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors.
Thomas was preceded in death by his father, his grandparents, many friends and family members, and all his beloved animals, who held a special place in his heart. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially his daughter Nichole, who carries forward his spirit and adventure . He is also survived by his wife, Jeannene; his mother, Carol; his brother, James; and his other daughter, Katelyn, and a host of friends and family who will forever cherish the memories they shared.
A celebration of Koz’s life will be held on April 28, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 pm at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, IL. Friends and family are invited to come together to share their memories and honor the remarkable man he was.
Though he may no longer be with us, Koz's infectious spirit will forever shine brightly in our hearts, and the laughter you brought into our lives will be deeply missed but never be forgotten.
Written with love,
Your Daughter Nichole
