

Timothy S. Bramlet, 58, died peacefully at St. Johns Hospital on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. Tim was born in Moline, IL on October 24, 1958, the youngest son of Bob and Rita Bramlet and was raised in Springfield. He was married to Kathy (Dalsin) Bramlet for 23 years, and most recently resided with Jeannie Lindsay. Tim had a distinguished career in public service, including 12 years as president of the Taxpayers Federation of Illinois, where he fulfilled many tasks related to Illinois school funding and worked closely with the Edgar administration on property tax-related issues. Prior to that, he served as vice president of the Illinois Retail Merchants Association. He was a dedicated contributor in the Springfield community, having served nine years as a commissioner of the Springfield Airport Authority. Throughout his life, he also served as president of the Springfield Sports Hall of Fame, the Capitol Area Sports Commission and Illini Country Club. He recently served as treasurer of the Illinois Executive Mansion Association. In his earlier years, he was a proud member of the Fighting Illini. He served as president of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity chapter at the University of Illinois and graduated with a degree in journalism in 1980. In addition, Tim was always proud to have spent an entire season working for the St. Louis Cardinals, his beloved baseball team. He was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest brother, Danny Bramlet. He is survived by his two brothers, Dave (Nancy) Bramlet of Venice Beach, FL and Dick (Char) Bramlet of Hillsdale, MI; two daughters, Kellie Bramlet (Elliott) Blackburn of Houston, TX and Molly Bramlet of Chicago; nieces, Joy (Eric) Martin, Laura (Damien) Sullivan, and Cindy Chavez; nephews, John Bramlet and Todd (Lindsey) Bramlet; lots of cousins and countless friends. The family will host a celebration of life Sunday, June 4, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at D.H. Browns, 231 E. Monroe St., Springfield, IL. All are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Tim Bramlet Scholarship at the University of Illinois Chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, c/o Marine Bank, 3050 Wabash Ave., Springfield, IL 62704.
