

Tom Margedant, 65, of Springfield, passed away on Monday January 5, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on February 23, 1949 in St. Louis, MO., to Richard Thomas and Jean Lillian Margedant. He married Janet Fox on September 20, 1980 in Springfield and she survives.
Tom is also survived by one brother Tim Margedant of Warrenton, MO., three sister-in-laws: Linda Ippolito, Pamela (Tom) Guy, and Judy (Roger) Gordon all of Mattoon, one aunt Dottie Margedant of Kirkwood, MO., and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Margedant was a US Navy Veteran serving in Vietnam. He retired from the Prairie Capitol Convention Center as General manager after 29 years. Tom started as the box office manager in 1979, he moved to Operations manager and then to GM in 2006. He enjoyed golf and his golf trips with Danny and Jim to Myrtle Beach, the St. Louis Cardinals, attending concerts, playing poker with his friends, and taking several cruises especially to Hawaii. Tom was a member of the American Legion and loved his dog Eowyn.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Friday January 9, 2015 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road, with Pamela Guy officiating. The family will meet friends for a memorial visitation from 4:00-7:00pm Thursday at Bisch West.
