Travis passed away peacefully on April 22, 2024 surrounded by his treasured wife Doni and family and friends at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. While our hearts are broken for our loss, we are rejoicing that his body is restored and he is in the arms of Jesus.
Services are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home, Springfield. A visitation to celebrate his life will be held at Cherry Hills Church in Springfield, Illinois from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Friday, April 26th and funeral services will be held also at Cherry Hills on Saturday, April 27th at 10:00am.
After graduating from Robert Morris University, Travis began working in the IT department, 13 years later he began working in the IT department at United Community Bank. Those who worked with Travis described him as kind and helpful and appreciated that he would not only fix their tech issues but they fondly remember the relationships and connections they made not only work related but also with things going on in their lives.
Travis had a servant's heart and always looked for how he could support others before himself. He had a heart for people and loved serving them. He was a faithful member of Cherry Hills Church for the past 14 years. Doni and Travis were able to serve together in the preschool ministry early in their marriage and many kids called Travis their best friend.
Travis had a love for fly fishing and all things "technicleanse". It can be said without hesitation that Travis was made to be a Dad and bought baby clothes on clearance at Robert Morris Bookstore before he was even married. When Travis and Doni met it took one round on the rolling skate rink and the rest is history. When Travis's mom Jeanie met Doni she knew that her prayers had been answered. He was made to be a girl Dad. Allee and Ava were his pride and joy, they treasured their morning worship music and nightly prayers and devotions. He and Doni were so thankful that God faithfully answered their prayers to be parents. He loved spending time with Doni and the girls and cherished every moment.
So, live your life like Travis who always put others before himself, and looked for opportunities to serve everyone and share the light of Jesus through his actions to everyone he met.
Left to cherish Travis's memory are his wife of 14 years and 9 months, Doni Scroggin, and two young daughters Allee and Ava. His mother and father Terry and Jeanie Scroggin of Mt. Pulaski, IL. One sister, Nicole Meagher, and one brother, Andrew Scroggin (Megan). His mother in law and father in law, Karen and Dean Johnson of Eckerty, Indiana, two brothers in law Russell Johnson (Brittney) of Jeffersonville, IN and Daniel Johnson (Rachel) of Anderson, IN along with many special nieces, nephews, family, friends and coworkers.
We would like to thank his medical team at Northwestern Hospital, Dr. Wolfe and Nurse Renee for all they did to help us have Travis as long as we did. We also would like to thank the staff at Carle Foundation Hospital 6th floor CVICU for serving Travis, Doni and their family and friends with unbelievable kindness, professionalism and unwavering support through this time. We are thankful for all of the support from our Cherry Hills, UCB, ELC and District 186 families.
