

Truman was born on May 26, 1925 in Springfield, the son of Truman L. Flatt Sr. and Catherine Louise Sidener. He married Mary Pefferle on June 27, 1947 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
After graduating from Springfield High School in 1943, Truman entered into the United States Navy and became a corpsman stationed in the South Pacific aboard the USS Feland. After the death of his father, he ran Truman L. Flatt & Sons Company from 1951 to 1980, along with Litchfield Bituminous and Buckhart Sand and Gravel which are still owned and operated by his family. Truman enjoyed duck hunting, fishing, and steamboats. Above all, he loved his family.
Preceding Truman in death are his parents and grandson, George Busen.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Flatt of Springfield; his sons, Steve (wife, Tonna), Dave (wife, Christine), Chris (wife, Leigh), and Philip (wife, Becky) Flatt, all of Springfield; his daughters, Sally (husband, Riley) Lane, Nancy (husband, Monte) Busen, and Janet (husband, Bill) Cole, all of Springfield; fifteen grandchildren, Tasha Flatt, Carla Vallone, Truman Flatt III, Thomas Bianco, Amy (husband, Scotty) Trawick, Carrie (husband, Jeph) Bassett, Jessica (husband, Charlie) Golitko, Drew (wife, Abby) Flatt, Taylor Flatt, Mark Krueger, Kate Krueger, Kali Cole, Stephanie, Jon, and Nick Flatt; seven great-grandchildren, Jade Niehaus, Eli and Madison Trawick, Jack Bassett, Dominic, and Meg Golitko, Sophia Fleishman Vallone; brother, Charles Bryant (wife, Rozanne) Flatt.
Family will receive friends from 10:00-10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S. Walnut St., Springfield.
A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Rev. David Hoefler, celebrant.
Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following ceremonies.
Private family burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
