She was born at home, in Salisbury, IL March 4, 1927, the daughter of Roy and Julia (Thomas) Jordan. She married Harry Fraase Sr in 1945, and he preceded her in death in 1998.
Velma was a devoted wife and mother, caring for her children and their home. She was a member of Farmingdale Presbyterian Church for many years where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for 48 years and also was involved in various aspects of the church. She loved gardening, especially flowers. She had a green thumb for sure. Velma loved roosters and had several in her collection.
Surviving are her six children: Gary (Sue) Fraase, Dennis (Janet) Fraase, Harry “Tom” (Vicki) Fraase Jr., Jim Fraase, William (Donna) Fraase, and Gregory (Wei Wei Hu) Fraase. She has seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Arrangements are in the care of Bisch Funeral Home West 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd. Springfield, IL where the family will greet family and friends on Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 pm. Private family services will be held, burial will be in Old Salem Cemetery.
