

Vernita was born on October 6, 1923, in St. Clement, MO, the daughter of William Anthony and Gesina (Koester) Feldman. She married Robert Harold Oney, Sr. in 1947, in Hannibal, MO.
In Vernita’s younger days, she enjoyed woodworking and crafting. She also loved crocheting, especially making baby blankets to donate.
Vernita was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Oney; parents; son, Terry J. Oney; grandson, Michael Todd Dixon; and several siblings.
She is survived by two sons, Robert H. (wife, Susan) Oney, Jr. of Springfield and Jerry “Jake” L. (wife, Brenda) Oney of Crestview, FL; one daughter, Linda (husband, Jim) Dixon of Springfield; several grandchildren; sister, Eileen Fisher of NC; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation & Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:15 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. on Monday, October 28, 2019, at Butler Funeral Home—Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield. A funeral ceremony will be held at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Dominic Rankin, officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
