Butch was born July 25, 1940, in Springfield, IL, the son of Vincent J. Sr. and Mary McCoy Romanotto. He married Diana Miller in Springfield, IL on April 26, 1962.
Butch attended Cathedral School and graduated from Lanphier High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was employed as an electrician with IBEW Local Union 193 for almost 40 years. Butch was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Illini basketball fan. He enjoyed fishing, reading western novels, and completing the crossword puzzles in the newspaper.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Theresa Reed and Rose Capranica; and his beloved dog, Liberty.
Butch is survived by his wife of 62 years, Diana Romanotto of Springfield; sons, Bob (Susan) Romanotto, Vincent (Deb) Romanotto III, and Brian (Lynn) Romanotto; daughters, Bonita (Bill) Capella, Dineen Kruger, Maria (Ken) Wickham, and Heather (Jennifer) Wolf; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary Louise Colwell, Angela Latonis, and Leo (Judy) Romanotto; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Graveside Ceremony: 12:00 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2024, at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the Department of Defense.
The family will host a Celebration of Life following the graveside ceremony until 4:00 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2024, at Knights of Columbus-Devereux Heights, 2801 West St., Springfield, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Animal Protective League.
