

Walter R. Cantrell, 53, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center. Walter was born March 3, 1957 in Quincy, the son of Ray and Pearl Drummond Cantrell. He married Michell “Shelly” Breeden on February 23, 1989 in Vero Beach, FL. Walter was a graduate of Quincy High School and he served his country in the Army. He worked as a tree trimmer for 33 years, most recently for Pryer’s Topnotch Tree Service. He was a member of AA and the R Club and enjoyed woodworking, being outdoors and reading old western books. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Shelly of Springfield; four sons, Cory (wife, Kim) Cantrell and Conrad Knepp, both of IN and Timothy Breeden and James Cantrell, both of IL; two daughters, Cassandra Cantrell of IN and Chassity Cantrell of IL; four grandchildren, Sage and Jaci Peace and Christopher Jarvis, all of IN and Aiden Breeden of IL; five siblings, Mavis (husband, Robert) Knowles of TN, Donald (partner, Joel) Cantrell of KS, Stanley (wife, Diane) Cantrell of MS, Gary Cantrell of MO and Linda (husband, David) Lamareau of TX; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, July 26, 2010 at Trinity Church of the Nazarene, 1108 N. Daniels Ave., Springfield with Pastor Ron Waltrip officiating.
