

Springfield – Walter F. Goodman, Sr., 87, died on January 4, 2011, at Memorial medical Center.
He was born November 12, 1923 in Springfield, Illinois to Walter C. Goodman and Marguerite H. Violet. On January 27, 1943 he married Lorene Gibbs.
His parents and one brother, Robert Goodman, proceeded Walter in death.
Walter is survived by his wife Lorene; one son Walter (Patricia) of Glenarm; two daughters, Carol (Richert) Quinn of Greeley, Colorado, and Vicki (Lee) Bibb of Arlington, Texas. 6 Grandchildren, Kevin (Terry) Quinn, Shannon (Glenn) Leffler, Jane (John) Hayden, Joel (Stacey) Goodman, Lindsay (Ryan) Sessums, and Matt Bibb. 10 Great Grandchildren, Brayden, Reilly and Delaney Quinn, Kaitlin, Garrett and Erik Hayden, Grace Goodman, Cullen Leffler, Jack and Aubrey Sessums. Many nieces and nephews.
Walter was a veteran of the 8th Air Force during WWII and was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart.
He was a member of Electrical Local Union 193 working for 45 years as an electrician, and then retiring in 1990. He was a member of South Side Christian Church and Free Masons 500. He was an avid trap shooter loved to play golf and the banjo. Walter was a terrific husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be truly missed.
Services are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield where visitation will be held on Monday, January 10, 2011 from 10:30 am until time of the funeral service at 12:30 pm. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the A.P.L. (Animal Protective League).
