

William "Bill" Polk, 76, of Sherman, died at 7:09 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at his residence. Bill was born January 30, 1932 in Springfield, IL, the son of William L. and Emma I. Elston Polk, Sr. He married Donna Wilgus on September 19, 1952 in Springfield. Bill was a Navy veteran and was master of his trade, setting ceramic tile for all of his life. He was a generous and fun loving family man who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. When not with family Bill was always busy tending to his yard, building something, doing handyman work, or putting together classic car miniature replicas. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Gina Marie Pachlhofer. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Donna Polk of Sherman; one son, Dennis Polk of Springfield; two daughters, Karen (Larry) Fagg and Sharon (Carl) Rudin both of Sherman; eight grandchildren, Kari (John) Neathammer of Sherman, Christine (Brian) Mohr of Chicago, Mark Polk (companion Kali Littig) of Springfield, Larry (Quinn) Fagg of Mt. Pulaski, Karla Polk (fiancee' Art St. Germain) of Washington DC, Sara Rudin (fiancee' Sean Carroll) of Chicago, Megan Polk of Orlando, FL, and Denise Pachlhofer of Sherman; one great-grandchild, his namesake Will Polk; one brother, Jim (Jane) Polk of Claremont, FL; one sister, Nancy Meadows of Athens, IL; one step-brother, Bob (Donna) Fritchman of Springfield; one aunt, several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and his beloved dachshund Fritz whom he spoiled so much. Family will receive friends from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral ceremonies will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 23, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, with Rev. Msgr. Carl A. Kemme, V.G. officiating.
