As a young Copper Cap transferring to to SMC to learn the rigors of contracting for launch vehicles, I was fortunate to come under Barney's wing. Now some 20 years later, I still remain awed by Barney's knowledge, fairness, and professionalism. He was a great friend and mentor. Contracting has lost one of its best! I am truly fortunate to have spent time with him.

Barney was a friend, mentor, and trusted agent for the government. He will be missed but never forgotten. His legacy will live on in those that he touched throughout his career.

Barney will be sorely missed in Colorado Springs where he visited when his scheduled allowed.  He worked hard to make sure we were not forgotten amidst the bigger MDA.  Much appreciation for his dedicated service to our Nation.

Barney was colleague and friend, critic and partner.  I missed seeing him daily long before he died.  He brought joy, challenge and energy to my life and I will always cherish our time together.

In more than 40 years with the Department of Defense Barney earned a reputation as a smart, honest, dedicated, and mission oriented Civil Servant.  He was also a great mentor and friend.  Regardless of rank Barney "told the truth as he saw it";  he did not mince words.  You always knew what he thought about a subject no matter how politically sensitive it might be to others

Barney was one of a kind.  Well rounded in so many areas.  We will miss you Barney.  Gone but never forgotten.  You left and everlasting impression on those of us who came in contact with you or who had the opportunity to work for you like I did, as one of your Deputies.   Humbly submitted, Sallie Grubbs
