Darci was born on June 6, 1954, to Roger and Joyce Pogue, spending her early childhood in Okinawa, Japan before returning to the United States and later residing in Minnesota. She eventually settled in the Washington, D.C., area, which she proudly called home.
In January 1991, Darci met her life partner, Marie Chimienti, in Washington, D.C. Darci earned a BA degree in voice from the Berklee College of Music in 1989 and built a career that reflected both her technical skill and creative spirit. She served as the Chief Information Officer for The Phillips Collection and also as the IT Director at Washington Performing Arts Society.
An accomplished songwriter and musician, Darci performed for over 20 years with Cleve Francis & Friends, delighting audiences at The Birchmere in Alexandria and at venues throughout the Washington, D.C., region.
Darci was strong, independent, and deeply compassionate—always ready to help a friend in need. She had a lifelong love of animals, especially dogs, and in recent years found joy in feeding and watching hummingbirds.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Joyce Pogue, and her sister, LaMora Pogue.
Darci is survived by her devoted partner, as well as loving cousins and many loyal friends.
