
Mr. Craft was born and raised in Beckley, WV. In 1946, he enlisted in the US Army and served with the 32nd Infantry during the occupation of Korea. In 1948 Delmar married Rosemary Canterbury, also of Beckley. In 1950 he was recalled to active duty and served as a squad leader with the 31st Infantry Regiment. In June 1951, he was wounded in action and awarded the Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, and the Korean Service Medal.
In 1954, Mr. Craft received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from VPI, and moved his family to Northern Virginia. Rosemary and their four children were Ludy's inspiration and motivation in life. Mr. Craft was active in local youth sports, coaching baseball in the Annandale Little League, and serving on the Board of Directors of the Springfield Boys Club.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Rosemary; children, Rebecca Tunick, Thomas Craft and Robbie Craft. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jason Craft, Matt Garand, Ryan Craft, Alex Craft, Cassie Craft, Daniel Craft, Anthony Craft and Joey Craft; great grandchildren, Charly Craft and Miller Craft; and his sister, Mary Cooke. He was predeceased by his son Charlie.A private family ceremony will be held at his interment at Arlington National Cemetery.
