

Dorothy S. Prentice was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. She passed away on February 19, 2022, 2 months after she celebrated her 100th birthday. She was born December 8, 1921 in Grayson County, Texas to Reba and Roy (Shorty) Scott. After high school, she graduated from Austin College in Sherman, TX with a degree in education. She was a dedicated elementary teacher and devoted wife to her husband Neil B. Prentice, an army officer for 28 years. They were happily married for 53 years and traveled throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia while Neil served in the military. She is survived by her three children Scott (Diane) Prentice of Sterling, VA, Jean (Benjie) Quinones of Bridgeport, WV, and Roy (Nancy) Prentice of Haymarket, VA. Her surviving grandchildren include Corey, Scott, Kelsey, Tristan, Casey, and Nick and four great-grandchildren Connor, Mya, Michael and Christian. She was predeceased by her sisters Rebecca Cole, Roylene Winchester; and her beloved grandson Shawn Prentice.Funeral services will include a visitation at 11 a.m. followed by a service at 12 p.m. on Saturday March 5, 2022 at Demaine Funeral Home, located at 5308 Backlick Rd., Springfield, VA 22151.
